How it works

Your employment journey, one step at a time.

Every participant’s path is different, but the process often includes
these stages.

  1. 1

    Referral and Introduction

You are referred for Vocational Rehabilitation services
and introduced to the Connect-Abilities team.

  2. 2

    Learn About You

We discuss your goals, strengths, interests, experience,
    barriers, preferences, and support needs.

  3. 3

    Prepare and Search

Together, we work on job readiness, applications,
interviews, employer outreach, and employment opportunities.

  4. 4

    Start and Maintain Employment

When you are hired, support may continue to help with onboarding,
    job performance, communication, and retention.

Participant-first services

Your voice matters throughout the process.

We serve as advocates first. We focus on your goals and needs,
communicate honestly, and work through barriers with you,
your support system, and your Vocational Rehabilitation team.

Individualized Support

Your services are shaped around your goals, abilities, needs, and circumstances.

Honest Communication

We discuss challenges directly and work with you to identify practical next steps.

Employment Choice

Your interests and preferences help guide the types of jobs and employers we explore.

Long-Term Success

Our goal is not just finding a job, but helping you pursue sustainable employment.

What to expect

Working with your employment specialist.

Successful employment services require communication, participation,
and teamwork. Your employment specialist will guide you, but your input
and involvement are essential.

You may be asked to:

  • Attend scheduled meetings and appointments
  • Discuss your goals, preferences, and concerns honestly
  • Participate in applications and interview preparation
  • Communicate changes in your availability or circumstances
  • Provide feedback about jobs and employers
  • Work with your support team to address barriers
